I'm taking time off to grieve the sudden loss of a loved one gone well before his time and to be with family and friends. I'll be back next week once I've had some time to process. I'm closing comments here, but should you need to get in touch with me, please feel free to do so at jenny@dictioncanary.com. Thank you all for your understanding. ~ Jenny Lee

Avocado & chartreuse...
Happy Friday, doves!
So, this is a variation of an outfit I've only actually worn a couple times, but I've already gotten a lot of use out of it. I bought this dress for my good friends' wedding. In one day, I wore it to a funeral, the wedding, and then out bowling for a friend's birthday (yes, that was the longest day in the history of mankind). I've also worn it to work. That's my kind of dress! I snatched it up as soon as I saw it on asos (still on sale, no less!). I mean, it basically has my name written all over it. The colours remind me of my parents' kitchen when I was a kid. Super seventies avocado, orange, chartreuse... All of my favourites in a lovely floral pattern!

Plaid & leather...
... Faux leather, anyway.
Well, the lionness of March destroyed my intentions of starting three posts per week on Monday. We got seven inches of snow! Ok, so, I know I wanted a real winter, and I got one. Now I'm ready to move on. So, barring any additional unexpected snowstorms my new posting schedule will begin next week.

A shot of whiskey...
Happy Friday, doves!
Anybody doing anything for St. Patrick's Day weekend? This is the first time in seven years I'm not going to Boston! That's quite a bummer. I actually don't have anything planned at all except that I'm going for my first shiatsu on Sunday! It's a far cry from my usual St. Patrick's Day shenanigans, but I'm excited for it!
So, I've had this dress (it's sold out, but I wanted to show you what it looks like with the collar) sitting in my closet for a while now. I've seen many people wear it in the ModCloth Style Gallery, and because of that, I decided to wait until I thought of a different way to wear it. So, it hit me to tuck under the collar. We all know I love green & copper (or whiskey! Mmm, whiskey...) together, and this old F21 top fit the bill perfectly. Right colour, a wee pattern, and a collar!

Now that I have more opportunities to take photos, I'm going to try to post three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). I think that's a good schedule.
Have a lovely weekend!

You said I was your blue, blue baby...
Hurrah for Daylight Saving! I know this time of year throws a lot of people off, but I always look forward to it. Lighter out later not only gives me more opportunities to take photos, but it also makes me just feel better. About basically everything. I don't think I would mind the winter so much if the sun didn't set until seven or eight in the evening.

And! Spring is only a week away. We've had a couple of days in the 60s this week and even though it's supposed to drop tomorrow, it looks like the weekend will be lovely (fingers crossed!). Looking back at my photos from last summer and fall, it's so hard to imagine the world ever being that green and full again. I feel like a winter zombie of sorts... Greeeeeeeeeeeeeen, I need greeeeeeeeeeeen!
And for once, this outfit actually has no green in it (... I don't know what happened...). I started with this cardigan and these shorts. I just couldn't get past them. After rooting through my drawers and nearly giving up, I remembered this tee!

But don't worry, the green will return for my Friday post... Just in time for St. Patrick's Day weekend!Title from "The Pharaohs" by Neko Case.

Bug girl...
I had taken photos of this outfit a while back, but I decided to
reshoot them not in my lame backyard (I will like it more when my wall
of leaves returns again). So, this time I went back to my favourite spot behind my parents' house (they only live five minutes down the road in
the next town, but I swear the air is cleaner there. It smells
earthier, greener, just cleaner). Basically, I spent an hour running around the woods. It's refreshing to have a quiet place to go where I feel comfortable, back in my element.
Anyway, I'm completely in love with this bug dress by Tulle and honestly can't wait to style it again (but I will heh)! Also, I don't know if you can quite make it out, but there are butterflies on my jacket lining as well. I actually just noticed this. Hurrah for accidental insect coordinating!

My
skin has nearly returned to normal. I'm just left with it quite a bit
drier than usual (even for the winter). All of this has me wondering
about doing a beauty/health & wellness feature every now and then.
I'm still mulling over how I would approach it, so if you have any ideas
or thoughts, let me know! If you're not interested at all, if you'd
like to read about specific topics, if there's something completely
different you'd like to see here, etc. I would love your input!
