We can ramble hand in hand across the grasses of our land...

It was eighty-five degrees yesterday! Unfortunately I spent half of it at work followed by a good two hours at the allergist. But I did get to go for a nice walk down to the lake and spend a little bit of time outdoors.

(TJ Maxx top, Ruche dress as a skirt, belt, and heels)

I needed to change into something light and airy when I got home and this is what I came up with. Super comfy and cool. Also, the debut of my pale legs (apologies)! It was just entirely too hot for any kind of legwear.

This is the belt that came with the dress. It's huge! But it works very well for disguising dresses worn as skirts.

I hardly ever (evereverever) wear my hair in a ponytail but there was really no choice today. Perhaps I'll attempt to put my hair up more. I never have any patience and wind up taking it down after five seconds... But I'll try.

These are the same heels from my last post. Yes, I love them but to be completely honest I'm drooling over all the adorable wedges I'm seeing everywhere right now. I'm just itching for the weather to warm up for good!

This evening we're going to see Jason Isbell play in Philly! It should be a great show. And even though I do have to work tomorrow it'll be a nice way to start the weekend early.

Sugar, even odd smiles are in this season...

All right, Tuesday shmuesday. Let's talk about the weekend, shall we? Who needs this weekday rubbish, anyway?

Friday night we went out to dinner with a bunch of friends. Saturday was a wickedly stormy day. Hail, rain, wind, downed trees, firetrucks screaming down the street, sirens wailing. Despite the weather I went to lunch and then watched Bridges of Madison County (bawled) with a friend. Okay, look, I tried to keep it together, I did. I made it to the very last scene and just lost it. I cry at movies and, well, it's Bridges of Madison County! Beautiful movie. Saturday night was beer, friends, and This is Spinal Tap for the millionth time (never gets old!). It turned out to be a lovely day even if the weather did give it a bit of an ominous undertone.

Sunday I brought coffee to the boyfriend at work and had lunch with him. When he got home we went out to dinner again for a friend's birthday.

(Forever21 cardigan, ModCloth t-shirt, Ruche shorts & heels, Target tights)

This is a perfectly comfortable and fuss-free weekend outfit. I layered a couple pairs of stockings because it's still a wee bit chilly out there.

I seem to be developing a habit of pairing this cardigan with pink. And I like it! I've had this sweet t-shirt from ModCloth for some time now and have styled it various ways but this is my favourite thus far. It makes for a perfect summer tee as it's quite light and cool.

Okay, so these shoes are not very practical for weekend errands and outings but they sure are cute! I traded them in for flats when going, well, pretty much anywhere. (Yep, I'm guilty of purchasing these shoes in black, too.)

The hyacinths and daffodils are in bloom right now. I even saw a tulip about to bloom! Thank goodness for spring!

A wicked wind will blow your ribbons from your curls...

Okay, truth be told, these were taken rather hastily because it was quite raw and nasty outside and, admittedly, I got a wee bit frustrated. Meh. It happens!

(Target cardigan and shoes, ModCloth T-shirt, Forever21 skirt, Ruche knee-highs)

Individually I love every piece in this outfit. This should translate into an outfit that I love. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I think I like it, though. Maybe.

Behind me you can see our dog's outdoor toys of choice - a log and an old boot. I'm not entirely sure where he got the boot but he loves that thing.

This photo was taken inside as it was beginning to get too dark outside, and I do rather like it. Freckles and goose bumps (it was chilly!) and all. These knee-highs are so perfect that I got them in tan, too. And they stay up! That is so rare. I feel as though I'm forever pulling and tugging my socks.

All right, I've started to feel a little better about this post now that I've put it together. It's been a strange day so we'll chalk it up to that!

Now my heart is green as weeds grown to outlive their season...

The temperature got up to seventy-five degrees today! I had to reapply sunscreen. I had my first iced coffee of the year. I had to go in the house to cool off. Hurrah! Holy smokes, it's awesome.

(TJ Maxx top, Tulle shorts from ModCloth, Target tights, ModCloth heels)

Even though I generally don't wear pants I do think shorts are necessary for bike riding, skateboarding, tree climbing, hiking, etc. in warmer weather. However, I have never been a fan of short shorts. This pair by Tulle is a great length, and they're not too clingy. In short (I'll be here all night folks), they're the perfect pair!

This was last time I wore this shirt. It's so light and loose that I figured it would be perfect for a hot, lazy afternoon as well.

The downside to this amazing weather is that my allergies are still going haywire. Awful allergies + a busy weekend = not getting around to putting up my clothes to swap/sell. But I will do it as soon as possible!

Did every one have a good weekend?

Clark Kent, now there was a real gent...

Okay, I have to admit if it wasn't for the brown cardigan I would feel a bit like a superhero in this outfit... And I think I'm all right with that! If I took it off maybe I would have gotten super powers! Damn. I'll have to try next time... Yep, I'm still five years old most days.

(ModCloth cardigan and dress, random tights, shoes from DSW)

The reason this feels superhero-esque is the colour combination. The top of the dress and my tights are actually dark blue which was hard to capture with the setting sun. I do like how these photos turned out, though, and I didn't want to mess with them at all. The blue is a wee bit more noticeable here...

The skirt is a gorgeous marigold yellow that I love with dark blue. I'll try to get some better shots of the contrast at some point. Not as the sun is going down, I suppose!

The title of this post is from a song I listened to all the time as a kid, "Superman's Song" by the Crash Test Dummies (yup!). But I also have Bruce Springsteen's "For You" running around my head...

Didn't you think I knew that you were born with the power of a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?

That song is in my head every single day. You know, just like the theme from Indiana Jones (not even kidding. I sit at my desk and hum it to myself daily). There you have it. This post is only a tiny sampling of how weird I am.

I seem to have an affinity for songs about Superman? Huh.

Ok, the geekery ends here (for now).

Oh! One more thing before I go... I recently went through my closet and managed to donate two bags of clothes and a bag of shoes. However! I kept some things to swap or sell and plan on putting them up on tumblr this weekend. I'll post the link when I've got everything up if anyone is interested!

Meet me tonight in Atlantic City...

What a busy weekend! The A.C. Beer Fest on Friday night was a blast. It turned out to be the perfect time to go. Not too crowded and the lines were fairly short. Sunday we went to see Justin Townes Earle (!!!) in a little public library in northern Jersey. Bit of a strange venue but the man puts on a great show! I geeked out pretty badly but, really, can you blame me??

(ModCloth cardigan, Forever21 shorts and t-shirt, Target tights, Ruche heels)

Lately I have been in the kind of mood where I try on everything I can think of, get furious, and eventually just throw on a dress and huff out of the house. For this outfit I had the added challenge of seventy degree weather and legs that haven't seen the light of day in six months. These stockings were a great solution. I kept cool and didn't have to subject anyone to my blindingly pale legs.

I'm not sure if you can tell from this photo but I have a patch of freckles in the shape of a paw print on the back of my neck. They're my absolute favourite freckles!

Last week I went to the beach for the first time this year! It was beautiful.

You can see Atlantic City peeking into the shot above. It's such a strange city and it never looks real to me. It always looks like a movie set.

I wish the water was this calm in the summer!... Shhh! My dad is a surfer and would consider that statement blatantly blasphemous. Heheh But it's true! By the time it's warm enough to swim the waves are big and rough and the current is terribly strong.

I hope every one is having a great week so far!
